Hey Guys Taeget here, We have been working with the massive amount of custom maps that we have in our Libarary. What we have found is that most just will not work due to the "X Model" factor. But we also found that a certain percentage that have the "teams.gsc" file will work if you remove it from the .iwd. Obscurity will then repair this on its own and the map will work.
Falcar and Snaklet and all the OBS gang, we are very aware that you are 'PICKY" about what maps run on your mod so are we. But we have to run them and see which ones will mesh with the theame of Obscurity MOD. So far we have about 130 maps that will work with this mod.
For most of you out there if there is a map that you want to run with this mod check to see if it has a teams. gsc file in the" .iwd" if so remove it and test the map. Watch your console it will let you know if there are any errors. But for the most part we have found that a certain percentage will not work due to the "AGAIN" the " X MODEL" count.
I have not release this server to the public yet. we are testing every map we have. Not a slow process but time consuming one. We also want to know if we build maps for your mod should we run them past you (snakelet and Falcar) before we release them here is the U.S.A. on your mod or is that not warrented. Just wanted to keep you guys up to date on the OBS project.
The original Server we started is populated for most of the day everday. The second server we have stsrted witht the OBS on it is not PUBLIC yet but it soon will be. We will have a limited number of maps in the rotation, with a rotation swap every week or so. will try to set up a poling center to vote on which maps are most popular and which are not.
Snakelet & Falcar I have one queston, Can the Obs mod handle Testclients? this would help us determin where the crash point is. please let me know thanks.

Usually map makers edit teams.gsc so they can include SAS vs. Opfor and other options - if this is the case, we can build the exclusion for that map into the mod's teams.gsc upon request. We haven't had any of our custom maps break because of the xmodel limit, but if that's what it says then there's nothing we can do to save it.
Test clients will work (on normal conditions, punkbuster disabled etc) but aren't necessary to test the xmodel limit of a map. The command to get them in is scr_testclients (number).

The maps will eventually die due to the xmodel limit. This is the same for all mods, but with Obscurity we have pushed every limit including the xmodel limit, therefore there isn't much room for compromise. As a guide, Citystreets is just over the xmodel limit for our mod. The size and detail of this map should be a good indicator of what you should be aiming for, but I suggest lots of testing along the way. The maps can be larger if you don't spam random xmodels.
As for you guys making your own maps, there is no need to run that by us if you wish to use them. If however you need a custom day/night cycle, we would need to play it to see if we like it enough to make the DNC for it. Thanks for the information. I am sure a lot of map makers will find this handy.

Hey thanks guys I have the server up and running with 18 customs maps on it. I have not released it to the public yet. We are running it through the ringer to see what gives and what stays. So far it good and stable, But I am sure that my guys in {BCT} will tear up something there good at that. I really thank you two for all your help and information. I will try to keep you up to date on progress. Working on a list of what maps that are out there that ar good and that are bad.

A map will either work or not due to the xmodel limit - it's not going to fail afer a certain amount of use. If it boots once, it's good to go forever.

is there a list of working custom maps, im trying to put up a obs server tonight, would like to know what ones work and dont i have over 350 custom maps XD

Any map that's made properly will work.... just not all of them have custom day/night cycles created for them, so these maps will run but be permanently daytime. Some good maps that we like and have created cycles for (off the top of my head): mp_highrise mp_burg mp_warehouse3 mp_fav mp_bacalao
