As a few of you may have noticed, there's now a ping limit on the OC1 Obscurity server. This means that anyone attempting to connect with a ping higher than 170 will be rejected.
The issue that prompted this is people from overseas with massive pings pulling off unfair kills on the local players, namely shooting them in places they weren't actually standing in at the time. This can happen due to the setting g_antilag (which is forced on since a CoD4 update ages ago), allowing clients that are behind the server to shoot other players where they see them at the time, which is often far behind the victim's actual position. Although this setting allows laggy people to be competitive, it isn't fair on everyone else.
For those of you who don't normally get a ping that high and are still told you can't join, just try reconnecting with the console or server browser. Booting the game and immediately connecting (such as through xfire) can often give you an abnormally high ping on the initial connection.

The ping limit has been raised to 250 maximum as some Australian players were having trouble joining.
