Hey guys,
I am interested in maybe running a listen server to give MTX a go... I have never played it. Neither have I run a server so I have some questions.
Can I run it on a file server I have set up on my LAN?
Do I need any special Programs?
If I have to install cod4 on the server can I use the same cd I installed onto my gaming PC or does it have to be different CD-Keys?
How do I go about setting it up?
Thanks for the help guys, if it seems easy enough and legible to run on my server I might just set it up

Listen server pretty much means you are playing and running the server at the same time (from my understanding). Like when you setup a match using the ingame menus. It should work nicely over a LAN if everyone connects to your match, and remember to use wall jumps heaps.
You will need COD running to on the server. Not just the dedicated console, the game needs to run. Not sure about the serial thing, but basically would would host from your gaming PC and be playing. Like MW2.
other than that download the mod, run the config. A server had MTX running on a dedicated at one stage, it wasn't too bad but the timescale movement isn't smooth enough for our liking which is why we ditched it. We are fussy.

i am glad you are fussy or obs wouldn't be as polished as it is....
We fiddled around last night trying to get the guys to connect to my listen server but no matter what we did the guys couldn't see or connect to the server.... We even tried over hamachi to no avail.
If you don't mind snakelet, sometime when you are on i might get you to join my vent and help me out with it. Would you mind mate?
I tried running it as dedicated as well but it lagged pretty bad so i know what you mean that it has to be listen.

You probably need to forward your ports. http://portforward.com/
