Hey guys! Proud to say that the 2Fort map I have been working on is now in Alpha testing stage and is available to play on our EAS test server! If you'd like to go in, take a look around please feel free! I'm also making the map OBS friendly so that when they phase through walls they will have their own place to go ^.^ Please keep in mind it's still in ALPHA stage and is no where near completion. I'd say I'm about 30% done. Should be quite fun when I am finished though! Also, if you think "I wish I could climb that! or mantle that!" you probably can. All fences in the middle areas are clime-able. If you guys know how to use xfire I've posted pics of it on my Xfire which is Rumshifter. Please take a look. And if you want to make a suggestion please visit us at easclan.org and tell me what you think should be in there! ^.^ I want everyone to like this map and want tons of input. I also eventually want our own Day/Night cycle =P So yeah!

NOTE: When you go to look at it please go into your graphics options, and turn Specular Map OFF. i don't know why the map is koolaid colored when you have it on. I have reflection probes. again.. alpha... lol Thanks!

From memory to get the specular maps working on maps you have to place huge brushes with the texture Light Grid Volume over anywhere the player/gameplay objects can go. OR you have the option somewhere in the tools to run around the map and collect the dots like pacman, which essentially does the same thing but is an alternate way of doing it if you're really bored. From the screenshots it's looking good though :D

but that's the thing! I have the light grid volume already implemented in the correct way... so I'm very confused as to what I'm doing incorrectly xD And the map is displayed correctly but ONLY when Specular Map is turned off xD
And thanks! It's my first map and as such I think it's a pretty big endeavour but it should turn out great in the long run! Thanks for the help!

haha yeh i might of been a bit slow and shud have got it when i saw the name but its a cod4 remake of the TF2 map 2Fort and a very nice one at that will look very good when done ;)

Only just started playing TF2 (i know, i'm a bit late joining but meh) and it looks like a great remake so far. Excited to see what it wil be like as obs.
Should be a VERY popular map when finished.

Alpha version 1.01 compiling right now.
Added in tears at the base of the fences on each side.
All fences climbable.
Added bunkers at each end of the trough.
Aded obs SAFE-T net mesh under the map so that if you phase through the floor, mesh catches you. But only in some areas.
Coppied terrain, flipped it, skinned with dirt so obs can't see up through the ground.
Ladders added at both sides of the bridge inside the LMG boxes.
Apparently Compiling the light will take 45 minutes -.- but yeah, after that, compile the reflections.
Will be adding more stuff FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE xD
So yeah, version 1.01 ^.^ I'll post again when it's up.
I hope I get a custom Day Night cycle with this one ;)
I'll also be making a video on xfire but I'll show you the obs areas that I can get to via Noclip on my own server =)

1.01 up. Didn't quite realize how the spawns work so for now it's a spawn CF... Will be fixed in next update xD

omg, i spent an hour downloadin ur map and you go and realese another update..RAWR!
haha, i was so determined to see how it was comming along so i downlaoded it while im capped. oh wells, cant wait for tomoz (wednesday) when im reset :D. Oh, and we have sport at school which is good to. Have a good night obscurity boys cya tomoz!

Hey Spider, Map looks great. 1 Thing I found is, once you climb the fence, you can get up the one water tower, you can then jump onto the Building, and from ther onto the outside wall of the map. The Safety net is a great idea. BUT, You should raise it to certain parts of the level, so it will protect the obs from falling, BUT, they can't exploit it and use it to possess people. Say, half there body will still be sticking out?

problem, if half ur body is sticking out A. u will b able to be seen and B. i THINK u will not be able to phase back up cuz i have encounterd being stuck in the floor somehow and i cudnt phase anywhere so i was stuck it was uber gay

Hey Pheonix, how big was that video you took? I took one about the same length and it came out to about 650MB! lol I was using half size and 30 fps o.0
Anyway loading a video on my xfire showing the safety net I've put under the map, shows the terrain flip so that obs can't see back through, and shows what's outside the newly placed bunkers. Will be adding more light down there. And fixing the tears xD Again ALPHA! xD

Hi, Haven't tried your map .. but i was wandering if you fixed that specular map thing ..
I experienced the same thing when i made a map .. but i did everything that the pro's told me to do to fix it and it didn't work . For some reason, when i started a new map it was all fine and i have only had that problem with that map. Kinda sucks but i thought i would tell u that no1 has been able to fix my problem, so if u fixed it please let me know xD

updates very nice spider :D but just 2 things and i know 1 of em sound stupid but it would b uber cool 1. where u climb down the ladder on each side to go to that little room it would be cool if there was a nice big underground area with stuff there idk what stuff but ill think of stuff and 2. at the same spot it wud b cool just for laughs and entertainment if there was a slide that went down a bit but idk if this is possible due to the mesh?? and then there was stairs or even a elevator! that goes back up :D

About the red issue. After placing your reflection probes and compiling BSP you MUST compile reflections. This solves it. To place a reflection probe Right click on 2d map and select it from the list. Place these every so often in different areas and rooms. It's what the game uses to load reflections.
About the bunkers. 1. They are just the playing area, not furnished, and no where near complete xD 2. I'll work on a slide for you xD It's totally possible, just takes a while to make the model ^.^ Glad you guys are liking the map. I'm actually compiling v1.02 right now. Fixed terrain, spawns and other things. made the underground bunkers show what's really down there. Lowered compile time! YAY! I'll let you guys know soon as it's in beta phase at which point it'll be available for different modes of play. ^.^ Have fun!

i skipped a few posts but....
well it seems like itll b a mad map.. wonder if u could put in trap so that if the marine steps onto it it say takes the somewhere where they cant get out off.. maybe the traps are placed random each round and once a marine goes onto it, it cant trap them again tht round?

Umm yeah. As Spider said, the map is in an alpha stage and there are many spots where the map is incomplete. So you can get out, under and behind the map in spots.

Gat, rather than a safety net it would probably be much easier to put 200 unit thick caulk boxes around the outsides of the map xD

i just had another thought about traps... lol
it grabs u by the leg and hangs u upside down and urstuck like that till u die. maybe yo could have a perk like bombsquad but it sees traps not xplosives and/or hae it so it can remove pple from traps?

If it was possible that would be a great idea :D
When you entered the "trap" you are hung upside down, still alive at this point. You are still able to shoot, also other marines are able to shoot say a rope or chain that breakes on impact and allows the marine to escape before being gutted by an ob.
But i still dont see the slight possiblity of this ever happening..oh wells :P

Here's the short video I took a while ago. I'm still working on the map while juggling work + my family reunion so it's just kinda hectic right now. Another update will include more tunnels and an upper path on the causeway to both bases. It should be within the next 2 weeks.
